Vladimir Nabokov

Forfatterbiografi

Vladimir Nabokov blev født den 22. april 1899 i Sankt Petersborg i Rusland og døde den 2. juli 1977 i Montreux i Schweiz. Han var russisk-født og blev senere amerikansk statsborger; hans forfatterskab regnes derfor ofte som både russisk og amerikansk litteratur. Nabokov skrev romaner, noveller og digte samt essays og litteraturkritik, og hans stil er kendt for sproglig præcision, leg med fortælling og en minutiøs opmærksomhed på detaljer. Hans gennembrud som verdenslitterært navn forbindes særligt med romanen Lolita, udgivet i 1955, som blev både læst og debatteret bredt, og som stadig står som et af 1900-tallets mest omtalte værker. Nabokovs betydning for litteraturen hænger tæt sammen med hans modernistiske og senere postmodernistiske teknikker, hvor kunst og fortolkning nærmest bliver en del af selve handlingen.
