Forfatterbiografi

Virginia Woolf (født 25. januar 1882 i London, England, død 28. marts 1941 nær Rodmell i Sussex) var en engelsk forfatter, kritiker og essayist. Hun regnes som en af modernismens mest betydningsfulde stemmer, især kendt for en nyskabende fortælleform, der undersøger bevidsthed, tid og erkendelse gennem blandt andet strøm af tanker. Hendes forfatterskab rummer både romaner og essays, og hun bidrog væsentligt til debatten om kvinders vilkår og forfatterskab. Woolf blev især berømt for romaner som Mrs Dalloway (1925) og To the Lighthouse (1927), og hun skrev også Orlando (1928).
