Forfatterbiografi

Truman Capote (født 30. september 1924 i New Orleans, død 25. august 1984 i Los Angeles) var en amerikansk forfatter. Han skrev romaner, noveller og skuespil og forbindes ofte med den litterære stil, der bevæger sig mellem det elegante, det urolige og det journalistisk observerende. Capote fik tidligt gennembrud som historiefortæller og blev siden særligt kendt for både fiktion og “nonfiction”. Hans gennembrudsværker tæller Breakfast at Tiffany’s (novelle, 1958) og In Cold Blood (1965), som etablerede en ny måde at fortælle sandhedsstof på i romangenren og bidrog til at udvide grænserne for, hvad der kunne opfattes som litteratur i spændingsfeltet mellem research og fortællekunst.
