Forfatterbiografi

Susan Sontag (1933–2004) var en amerikansk forfatter, essayist og litterær kritiker, kendt for sin skarpe, principfaste og ofte provokerende tilgang til kunst, kultur og etik. Hun skrev især essays og kritisk prosa, men var også aktiv som dokumenterende intellektuel og som filmskaber. Hendes betydning for litteraturen hænger sammen med, at hun bragte en ny form for idédrevet nærlesning og debatlyst ind i den offentlige kulturkritik, hvor spørgsmål om fremstilling, magt og ansvar blev behandlet med både intellektuel ambition og polemisk kraft.
