Serhii Plokhy

Forfatterbiografi

Serhii Plokhy (født 23. maj 1957) er en historiker og forfatter med speciale i Ukrainas, Ruslands og Den Kolde Krigs historie. Han har ukrainsk baggrund, og han har i mange år været tilknyttet USA, hvor han også har etableret sin karriere som formidler af moderne europæisk historie. Plokhy skriver primært sagprosa med fokus på international politik, statsmagt og videnskabelige eller militære teknologiers konsekvenser. Det gælder blandt andet hans behandling af den cubanske missilkrise i Nuclear Folly: A History of the Cuban Missile Crisis (ISBN 9781324035985), hvor han samler et bredt historisk materiale for at belyse krisens årsager og forløb. Som prisbelønnet forfatter har Plokhy fået anerkendelse både i Storbritannien og i Ukraine. Særligt står hans arbejde Chernobyl: History of a Tragedy, som vandt The Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction (2018).
