Ralph Waldo Emerson (født 25. maj 1803 i Boston, Massachusetts, USA, død 27. april 1882 i Concord) var en amerikansk forfatter, foredragsholder, essayist og digter. Han regnes som en af de vigtigste skikkelser i New England-transcendentalismen, hvor han fremhævede individets åndelige selvstændighed og troen på, at sand vejledning kan findes gennem erfaring, intuition og personlig refleksion. Hans tidlige karriere tog form som unitarisk præst, men senere blev han især kendt for sine forelæsninger og sine mange essays, der fik stor betydning for amerikansk litteratur og idéliv. Emersons skrivning spænder over filosofiske og æstetiske emner med særligt fokus på naturens betydning, menneskets moralske liv og mulighederne for en mere direkte, ikke-dogmatisk forholden sig til verden.
