Forfatterbiografi

Milan Kundera (født 1. april 1929 i Brno, Tjekkoslovakiet; død 11. juli 2023 i Paris) var en tjekkisk-fransk forfatter. Han skrev romaner, noveller, teaterstykker, essays og poesi og blev kendt for en litterær stil, der blander erotisk komik, filosofiske overvejelser og politisk kritik. Hans forfatterskab blev især formet af livet i Centraleuropa i det 20. århundrede og af tiden i eksil i Frankrig, hvor han videreudviklede sit sprog og sine emner. Blandt hans mest kendte værker er romanen Die unerträgliche Leichtigkeit des Seins (L’insoutenable légèreté de l’être), som udkom i 1984 og senere fik stor international udbredelse. Kundera blev også anerkendt for andre prosaværker som The Book of Laughter and Forgetting og for sin særlige blanding af fortælling og refleksion. Udmærkelserne afspejler hans betydning som en central stemme i moderne verdenslitteratur. I 2020 modtog han den tjekkiske Franz Kafka-pris, og hans forfatterskab regnes fortsat som stærkt oversættelsesegnet og indflydelsesrigt, ikke mindst fordi han behandlede spørgsmål om identitet, ansvar og menneskelige valg med litterær skarphed og intellektuel tyngde.
