Judith Butler (født 24. februar 1956) er en amerikansk akademiker og filosof, kendt for sine bidrag til kønsteori, queer teori og performativitetsteori. Hendes arbejde har rødder i kontinentalt filosofisk tradition og har samtidig haft stor gennemslagskraft i bredere kultur- og litteraturteori. I Subjects of Desire analyserer Butler franske receptioner af Hegel og undersøger, hvordan forestillinger om subjektet og dets “ønske” formes og udfordres i 1900-tallets intellektuelle landskab.
