John Dewey (født 20. oktober 1859 i Burlington, Vermont, USA, død 1. juni 1952 i New York) var en amerikansk filosof og pædagog samt en af pragmatismens centrale skikkelser. Hans tænkning blev også formet af hans arbejde inden for psykologi og en tro på, at ideer må forstås gennem deres funktion i menneskers erfaring og problemløsning. I Reconstruction in Philosophy (1920) fremlægger han en programerklæring om, at filosofien bør rekonstrueres fra en mere spekulativ, metafysikorienteret tilgang til en eksperimenterende og undersøgende disciplin, der står i tæt forbindelse med naturvidenskab og samfundsliv.
