Forfatterbiografi

Anne Brontë (17. januar 1820–28. maj 1849) var en engelsk forfatter og digter, og den yngste af Brontë-søstrene. Hun er særligt kendt som romandigter, men hendes samtidige arbejde spændte bredt og omfattede også digte. Under pseudonymet Acton Bell udgav hun sin debWelcome roman, Agnes Grey, først udgivet i december 1847, og den afspejler erfaringer fra hendes eget arbejde som guvernante. Samme skrivende periode udkom også en anden roman, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, som senere har fået stor litteraturhistorisk betydning. Selv om hun døde allerede i 1849, har Anne Brontës forfatterskab fået varig relevans gennem sin skarpe sans for sociale vilkår, psykologisk indsigt og realistisk prosa. Hendes romaner regnes i dag som centrale bidrag til den engelske litteratur i 1800-tallet og har været med til at udvide fortællingernes perspektiv på kvinders erfaringer.
